JR Dietetics

Jennifer Anderson, RDN

Hello! My name is Jennifer, and as a dietitian, I know how intimidating it can feel sometimes to reach out for help around your health and relationship with food.

For some, food has become far more complicated and intimidating than it needs to be! My goal is to make that decision as safe and easy as possible!

My Background

I’m a native Coloradan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from Colorado State University and I did my graduate studies at the University of Utah. I have been a Registered Dietitian since 2001 with over 18 years of experience in private practice as well as work at Eating Recovery Center in Denver. In early 2012 I founded JR Dietetics in the Denver metro area.

Shortly after graduation I moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands where I lived and worked as a private practitioner. There I also collaborated with a team of therapists to design and implement an intensive outpatient program for eating disorders in conjunction with substance abuse recovery.

My Experience

In addition to extensive experience with weight management and eating disorders (including food addiction, substance abuse & chronic dieting), over the years, I have branched into many other realms of nutrition, including gastrointestinal issuesautoimmune diseasechronic inflammationheart disease and other relevant topics.

My philosophy

In my first few years as an RD, I became increasingly aware that the weight loss journey often comes with much emotional baggage, as well as that dreaded yo-yo effect that can frequently lead to more bondage than freedom! What is initially intended to bring health and vitality, can often backfire creating more health issues and stirring up more obsession with food and rules! Navigating complex food sensitivities, GI issues and allergies can put another kink in the process too! I knew there had to be a better way than simply counting calories and “white knuckling” a strict diet until that next vacation. It has been my passion ever since to help my clients discover this better way.

Food is a gift – intended to nourish, to bring people together and to enhance one’s life – but unfortunately, far too many people experience the opposite! If you are longing for freedom, clarity and balance around your food choices and behavior, I would love to help you sort through the confusion in a compassionate and safe environment without judgments!

My Style

My style is warm, relaxed and fun. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself laughing halfway through our session! I take a highly individualized approach, with many resources at my disposal (and always adding more!).

Together we look at your unique goals, learning style and preferences to find the best strategy for you. If we implement something that isn’t working, we’ll try something new until we get it right!

I love watching my clients walk out of my cozy home office feeling like a massive burden has been lifted off their shoulders – that sense of overwhelm, shame, and/or confusion they often walk in with.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out even for a brief conversation to see if we might be the right fit. No matter what, please don’t give up on your goals for vibrant health and a normal relationship with food!
